1907 Gibson Style 0 Natural Factory Refinish One Of A Kind. Here we have a really interesting piece of history with a Gibson Style O made in 1907! We received this guitar from the son of the previous owner who stated the guitar was purchased at a secondhand store in the late 1950’s. Then in the mid 1960’s it was sent it back to Gibson for some work to be done. Fortunately there is paperwork to back up this story straight from the Gibson factory including the repair estimates and factory recommendations for care. According to the paperwork the guitar received a full refinish, a new bridge and a new fingerboard which after doing some research makes sense since these are all different than what appears to be the standard appointments of the time. The label on the inside has been scraped away unfortunately but the serial number was luckily stamped into the back of the headstock at the factory when the refinish was being done. Since the work being done at Gibson the guitar was well kept and is in pretty good shape for its age cosmetically . The guitar has a slight separation at the back near the end pin area (see photos) however given the area and how these guitars are constructed it appears it is structurally sound according to our luthier. There is a common repaired crack in the heel which appears stable as well. The pickguard is not original but adds a very cool vibe to the guitar in our opinion. Currently the guitar plays ok up to the first 5-7 frets area but action starts to get high feeling after there and the action measures 5/32nds under the low E at the 12th fret and 1/8th under the high E at the 12th fret. If super low action is desired the guitar will need a neck reset or at the very least the bridge will have to be shaved down as there is very little saddle left to be sanded down. The neck is a huge medium hard V profile with a 1st fret depth of 1.8″, a 9th fret depth of 1.30″ and a nut width of 1 3/4″. The guitar comes with what appears to be the original chip board case shown in the photos which is in rough shape but all latches are in tact and the original handle is still hanging on. It also comes with all the paperwork and work records provided by the previous owner but no additional items.
