Wonderful player-level triple neck Fender console steel guitar, built in 1956 in Fullerton, Calif.
This is the Mk.III model Fender Custom T8 (triple neck, eight strings per neck) with lima bean tuners, which debuted in 1954 I think. Currently tuned to A6maj7, B#11, and E13th.
All pots replaced in 2023, neck selector switches changed in the 1990s or earlier for individual on/off switches. Blend pot wheels re-fabbed in 2023 (missing wheel covers). Comes with telescoping/locking legs with original rubber bottoms.
4 out of 6 pickups re-wired in 2023 at Elderly Instruments by the Elderly Restoration team headed by Steve. He did an amazing job! Master tone control knob and master volume work well.
This instrument was refinished; stripped of the original paint some time ago, and lacquered over natural ash (original body). There is a patched rectangular cut-out (possible pedal add-on in the late 50s or 60s) that I haven’t explored, but the patch is solid.
No case.
