1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Vintage – Cherry Sunburst

Stunning vintage 70’s Les Paul Custom finished in cherry sunburst – purchased from Mike Smitham of 60’s and 70’s hit-makers ‘The Fortunes’.

It’s been well looked after over the past 42 years and the blemishes are purely cosmetic, with no breaks, repairs or big and nasty dings. There’s the usual signs of usage of a guitar of this age, some wear on the binding, tarnishing to the hardware, light rash on the reverse when it catches the light, some minor lacquer checking and minor nicks and surface blemishes etc – see examples where we’ve bounced light off the surface to make them visible. It is everything you’d want a vintage Les Paul to be. More pics available (including internal pics) on our website as we reached our image upload limit on Reverb.

The spec is all original, with the big highlight being the sought after T-Top humbuckers which sound incredible. You also get the classic Mahogany body, comfortable Medium profile neck, premium Ebony board, and gold hardware. It plays beautifully with a nice action, and all frets ring out cleanly.

It weighs 10lb 2oz which is on the lighter side for a 70’s LP in our experience, and it comes complete with its original chainsaw / protector hard case which is in excellent condition with no issues, or broken catches etc.
