This is a fun piece of Fender’s production history- a 1966 Fender model 800 Pedal steel, one of the four models of pedal steel available in the 1960’s: the 400, 800, 1000, and 2000, each getting progressively more complicated the higher number. The 800 has six pedal activated levers, with the three on the left pitching strings down, and the three on the right, predictably, up. These instruments featured roller bridges meant to prevent string breakage, a forward thinking move for the mid 60’s.
